Meet Julia Cole, Occupational Therapist
Julia joined Waypoint because she values meeting students with compassion to support regulation and learning.
With her mother as a teacher, Julia grew up in a home that highly valued education and life-long learning. Her mother modeled love and joy for children and Julia acquired that same love, in addition to the awe of the beauty and science of child development.
Julia studied at Spalding University in Louisville and achieved a Master of Science in occupational therapy. She has years of experience as an occupational therapist in the outpatient clinic setting and early intervention, serving children and helping them meet milestones based on individualized needs. With an extensive background in ballet training and teaching, she brings an intuitive understanding of timing, coordination, and body awareness to intervention. She also focuses on gross and fine motor skills, visual motor integration skills, sensory processing and integration, postural strengthening, executive functioning, and praxis abilities using an evidence-based approach.
Julia strives to use a strengths-based perspective, meeting students with compassion to support regulation and learning. She builds off student interests and desires to foster their own intrinsic motivation to grow in the occupation of learning.
Julia lives in Louisville with her husband and daughter. She likes to recharge through spending quality time with her family, drinking warm beverages, hiking, yoga, and gardening.
