Meet Grace Dumesnil, Speech-Language Pathologist and Reading Interventionist

Grace joined Waypoint after discovering that a customized approach to instruction supports students’ personal learning styles.

Grace has worked in private education and outpatient clinic settings as a reading interventionist and Speech-Language Pathologist. She is passionate about building authentic connections with students which serve as the foundation for joyful interactions — the heart of all communication.

Her gentle and intuitive nature places students at ease, builds their confidence and enables them to find their optimal learning zone. With this approach, the student readily receives new content and builds on existing knowledge.

She is trained in a variety of reading programs utilizing both Lindamood-Bell and Orton-Gillingham principles. She has fostered the development of a number of speech and language skills in children including: speech sound production, phonological awareness, decoding skills, reading fluency, vocabulary development, reading comprehension and verbal comprehension. She continues to expand her knowledge through evidence-based practice and is inspired by the students themselves.

Grace lives in Louisville with her cat December, named for her gray wintery coloring. She enjoys long walks, yoga, hiking, biking, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
