Meet Debbie McLachlan, Assistant Director
Debbie’s academic journey began at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
This helped to lay the foundation for her commitment to teaching and learning over the next 17 years. Debbie has enjoyed many wonderful years working closely with children in the classroom. She has taken inspiration from some of the world's greatest educators including; Maria Montessori and Loris Malaguzzi. Debbie believes in creating environments where every child’s potential is nurtured and celebrated.
Following her time in the classroom, Debbie returned to university and earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management. This helped to equip her with the skills to effectively oversee educational programs and teams and highlighted her ability to guide and inspire both students and educators alike. Debbie later made a shift from the classroom into the role of Principal Teacher, where she spent many years honing her abilities in curriculum development and staff management.
Debbie’s professional path has been diverse and fulfilling. She has also authored two children’s books and pioneered the establishment of a forest playgroup. Debbie is excited to be part of the Waypoint team and is deeply invested in helping to grow and shape the future of learning.
Debbie was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. She moved to Louisvillle 11 years ago with her husband Angus. Debbie is a mom of three (ages eight, five and two). When she is not working, Debbie enjoys hiking, traveling and baking cakes. She also enjoys spending time playing with her children and values being home when they are all together.
